The development of the AI-based video content remastering and editing platform is a research and development project designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency. It represents an effort to localize video industries—such as film, drama, comics, performing arts videos, and intangible cultural heritage restoration—that have so far relied on foreign technologies. The ultimate goal is to achieve full domestic development of a video content remastering and editing platform.
The workshop, held on the 18th at Twohim, a multi-cultural space in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, brought together project participants including KBS, MBC C&I, The Stage, commissioned research partner Korea University, and the Korea Creative Content Agency. Sessions included an overview of the research project and presentations by both participating and commissioned research institutions.
From Viking Lab, the lead research institution, CEO Kim Dong-kyu, COO Lee Sang-yong, Director Yoo Sung-geun, and a total of eight team members attended, delivering presentations such as "Content Spin-Offs for AI."

KBS introduced "Producing Extended Reality (XR) Content Using Remastering Tools," while MBC C&I presented its technology for "Broadcast IP-Based Metahuman Production." Lee Kyung-tae, CEO of The Stage, explained one of the commercialization strategies: "Legacy Media Correction and Post-Production."
Professor Kim Seung-ryong of Korea University commented, "Through the current technological capabilities secured by each organization, we have confirmed sufficient technical competence for the localization of the platform."
The project will run until December 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, Viking Lab, founded in May of last year, was selected for this project based on its technological expertise in AI, the metaverse, metahuman production, and platform development. With the vision of "spinning off existing content to fit modern industrial structures," the company plans to enhance a variety of domestic content using generative AI technology.
CEO Kim Dong-kyu stated, "Through the project presentations, participating institutions have built consensus and solidarity, gaining confidence in the technology. This will enable us to accelerate the full-scale development of the remastering platform."
